Get Your Air Conditioning Serviced Before the Summer

Air conditioning needs regular maintenance, but the best time to get it serviced is just before the summer.

When the weather heats up, it’s vital that people stay comfortable, whether they’re clients, employees or family members.

Even minor problems can make a significant difference to the temperature and how people feel.

To avoid running into problems, you really need to get your air conditioning checked out.

Make sure you:

  • Get your system cleaned and maintained, particularly if you’ve noticed any problems
  • Understand how to use the controls and switch from heating to cooling mode
  • Check your units are free from blockages and obstructions

Why Does Air Conditioning Break Down in the Summer?

Your air conditioning system is more likely to break down in the summer. There are a number of reasons for this, but, in simple terms, it needs to work harder to achieve the same results. If the outside temperature is hotter, your units need to be on for longer at higher settings to cool your building.

Normally, this isn’t an issue. Air conditioning is robust and designed to work at high temperatures. However, if your system is not maintained properly or coming to the end of its lifecycle, the heat can quickly make existing problems much worse.

Most breakdowns result from dirty filters and condensers. If they aren’t kept clean and blockage free, they’re unable to release heat efficiently and have to work very hard to maintain the right temperature. The units get put under a lot of stress.

Take Out a Planned Preventative Maintenance Contract

If you haven’t got one already, you should also take out a planned preventative maintenance contract with an F-Gas accredited installer. That way, minor faults will be picked up before they have a chance to escalate and you should avoid running into any problems.

If you do need urgent repairs, it will also be looked at more quickly and you’ll avoid any hefty call out charges.

During your first scheduled maintenance visit, our engineers will comprehensively examine your system and identify any issues with it. Most problems can be fixed there and then, although, if anything is seriously wrong, you may need additional visits.

At B-DACS, we’re happy to survey your equipment free of charge and give you a quote for repairs or maintenance. It could make a huge difference to your building this summer and will save you money in the long run.
